While I wait for spring, I can still find a thing of two to do. Last week, I spent a little time in studio with an aspiring model, working on shots for her portfolio.

And we’re making plans for a well
deserved photography vacation (well deserved by Howard, I think, not me!). We’re planning on spending two weeks travelling down the east coast of the US, starting in NJ (with stops in Assateague and Chincoteague, of course) and getting as far south as Georgia. The plan calls for stops at either a garden or wildlife refuge or both each day of the trip. After Georgia, we then head back home via Smokey Mountains, Blue Ridge Skyway and Monticello. Really looking forward to it and am working on getting all the photography gear in shape for 2 weeks of hard use.
Expect to have quite a few new photos to add soon after that trip, so plan to come back for a good long site visit in early May. Happy Trails!

After the big snow fall, I headed into the pine barrens of Wharton State Forest with friends Sandy and Nan and the new ‘all weather, all terrain’ photo vehicle, Libby the Jeep. It was a blast… tons of fun and a little windy and chilly too!

I know it’s hard to imagine, with this 10 inches of new snow on the ground today in NJ, but spring is just around the corner. My good friend in Raleigh tells me she’s picking daffodils from her garden so there is hope! And another indication that I live in the wrong part of the country……
Anyway, 3 spring shows have been added to our calendar. 2 are tenative, and 1 a definite. Please come out and see us if you’re in the areas of these shows. It’s always fun to see familiar faces out and about.
Saturday – Mar 21, 2009 – Hope Church, Voorhees, NJ. A nice little show with a good mix of vendors. Benefits the Mens Club of the church, who do great things for children challenged physically or emotionally. Hope (pardon the pun) to see you there.
Sunday – May 10th (Mother’s Day) – 9am-4 pm – Sayen Gardens, Hamilton, NJ. A new show for us, but not a new loc
ation. Sayen Gardens is a beautiful local park (former private residence) that is at it’s peak at Mother’s Day. Many of my favorite photos come from this location. We’ve applied for this show but have not yet been accepted. Even if we don’t get in, it’s a great park for a stroll with mom on her special day.
Saturday, May 16th – (raindate May 23) – 9am-4pm Pitman Craft Show – Nice big show fills the downtown streets and park of an old Jersey town. Great variety of crafts and vendors. If you go, be sure to use the off-site parking and shuttle service. Hope to see you there. We’re still tenative with this one, but hope to hear soon of our location in the show.

With the weather today, it’s hard to believe just a couple days ago I was crunching around in the snowy woods, bundled up and shivering. I had made plans with a friend to spend the day shooting with some new studio equipment she had purchased, but when we saw the new fluffy snow and sunshine, she called a friend with 10 acres who’s willing to share and off we went. It was a great day.. met a really interesting new person and got to enjoy her great outdoors. A real treat! Anyway, here’s one of the photos from that day… and one from a day last spring taken at Winterthur. You see, even though I loved the snowy outing, I still dream of spring!

Yes, we’ve been quite quiet for the past month or so. Sad to say, it’s with good reason. My mom passed away suddenly just before Christmas. She was a big supporter of my photography and me, and she will be very much missed. I haven’t taken a photo since that event, but hope to get back out there soon. This photo of my mom was taken last spring as she accompanied me on a day of pretty pics at Hershey Gardens. It was a great day that we both really enjoyed and I’ll treasure it always.
